Vitrociset contributes to the production of 20 G.222/C-27A aircraft
KABUL, 15 November (Reuters) – The U.S. Army will be providing the Government of Afghanistan with 20 upgraded military transport aircraft

over the next two years; in so doing, the size of the Afghan air fleet will be doubled – some US and Afghan officers have reported today.

“Two medium-sized C-27A transport aircraft manufactured by Alenia Aeronautica - the Italian company being part of Finmeccanica Group - were already delivered” the AAF General Abdul Wahab Wardak is quoted as telling Reuters.

US Army General Stanley McChrystal, in the Command of Us and Nato Forces stationed in Afghanistan, declared that the remaining aircraft will be provided by the end of 2011
Vitrociset cooperates in the production of the 20 G.222/C-27A aircraft with the design, development and supply of  INTERPHONE CONTROL SYSTEMS (ICS-222),  AUTOPILOT SWITCHING UNITS (ASU-222) and CONTROL RADIOSET (NCR-313) equipment.

These systems represent an upgraded version of the initial corresponding products which were installed on-board G.222 aircraft during the ‘80s.  

Owing to its participation in the project with the foregoing activities, Vitrociset has got its Quality Management System certified as being in conformity with the standard EN 9100:2003 (UNI EN 9100:2005)/ AS 9100Rev.B/ JISQ 9100:2004 for avionics products.

Furthermore, in observance of contractual obligations taken up by a frame agreement with Alenia Aeronautica, Vitrociset also provides maintenance and overhaul services for the on-board avionics of G.222/C-27A aircraft .
