Vitrociset

The ARIT Project provides services in multi-channel mode (web, PDA, digital TV, SMSs and email) to tourists in the Abruzzo Region and to businesses active in the tourist industry (hotel and accommodation facility owners and operators, trade associations and institutional bodies). Amongst the rich information assets made available by the project are the following:

• 1500 content forms in Italian plus specific forms on the artistic and cultural heritage created by interfacing to external cataloguing systems (databases on cultural and architectural assets and the folkloristic heritage) with attached pictures;
• About 900 pages in foreign languages (English, French, German and Spanish);
• A photoset comprising around 300 pictures;
• 10 videos produced as part of the promotional service - translated in the 5 languages of the portal;
• Identification of points of interest: cash dispensers, pharmacies, restaurants, agencies, ports, airports and ski schools in the region.
  

In compliance with the requirements of the Ministry of Innovation and Technologies as contemplated in various sections of its Directive dated 19 December 2003 on the “Development and use of software programs by public agencies”, the software architecture is based on open-source products with the exception of the streaming server component built in Microsoft environment. The following modules are used: Liferay, JBOSS, Geoserver, Tomcat, Google Map API, DSpace, Posgres + PostGIS.

Mapping is based on the proprietary Google Map - Enterprise system.
