Liferay is used to develop web portals for internal and external communication of public and private organisations, in which users may access to various types of contents needed for the communication of initiatives and for services while bearing in mind the restraints and guidelines on usability and accessibility. The information will be managed from a single web-based Content Management system managing the portal and all multimedia contents (e.g. text, images, videos or RSSs) from a central location in multi-language and multi-channel mode. From an architectural standpoint, the system uses the most modern web-based open source technologies with a specific focus on users’ Web 2.0 needs. In particular, the framework used by Liferay is an open source solution which is extensively used in the international community. Liferay Portal is an open source portal consolidating and standardising access to data, documents, enterprise applications and external resources. Users access to all company data for which they are authorised with a standard interface and through a single sign-on. |
