The Tracking&Fusion system lies at the heart of the full Command and Control infrastructure and acquires information from a high number of sensors of different types (deployed in the operation scenario), and then compute, triangulates and ultimately correlates them with data-fusion algorithms. The full computation process - inclusive of data acquisition, fusion and viewing - occurs at a frequency of 100 Hz in hard real-time mode. Viewing of information is made through a Common Operational Picture console of the Command and Control room through which a number of operators are authorised to perform functions as envisaged by the mission operation sequences. The Common Operational Picture, in its various operational configurations, represents a comprehensive tool used in the Tracking Management activities of: mission, security and evacuated areas management, VTS surveillance, air traffic control, decision aid, playback and operators’ training.
