BCS (Border Control System) PDF Print E-mail

On behalf of State Police, Vitrociset has developed a “Border Control” system which is integral part of the Italian Government’s efforts to create  a “virtual border” for the Italian airspace, thereby removing the necessity of inspection at territorial boundaries and making borders increasingly exist “de facto” in cyberspace.

Based on historical archiving utilities and cutting-edge data extraction processes, BCS is a powerful tool for real-time intrusion prevention and investigation of suspect or dangerous characters.
BCS provides a valid support to Border police - while performing its specific monitoring tasks  for the control of human migration flows -  by automated entry-exit tracking applications based on:

  • Acquisition and processing of civil air traffic data;
  • Acquisition of air passenger lists related to all travellers on incoming flights to Italian airports, so that passenger name records be provided pre-flight to Customs and Border Protection Departments;
  • “Live” presentation of air traffic flows on the Italian territory;
  • Acquisition of Interdiction Alarm Reports, based on air passenger pre-screening against watchlists from the archives of police forces

However, should known suspect characters be allowed to board aircraft at airports abroad, BCS system automatically detects and highlights aircraft and trajectory concerned by the use of different colours – each one corresponding to a specific level of criticality – thus permitting a timely coordination of resources and security forces for a prompt intervention after aircraft landing.
