EDA7 January 2008

Vitrociset SpA won the public bidding to manage and develop the customer base of EDA.

By a contract that came into effect on 1 January 2008, Vitrociset acquired the business of EDA (Enterprise Digital Architects) S.p.A., active in the supply of Information Technology, Maintenance and Telecommunication services to police forces (through the Inter-police communication network), central and local public administration agencies and large-sized private customers.

This is a key opportunity for Vitrociset, which will be instrumental in comprehensively, effectively and impartially meeting customers’ needs. The two companies, in particular, under the control of Vitrociset’s management, are fully complementary in terms of size and skills and can use synergies with the opportunity to provide the market with solutions based on differentiated yet similar and fully compatible experiences in terms of know how and market knowledge.

An industrial plan was drafted which, after a quick intervention intended to normalise the acquired company’s operation, envisages a reorganisation phase which will be carried out in the first quarter, followed by the commencement of the relaunch and development actions.

The interventions will be provided in compliance with the guidelines and the contractually accepted commitments intended to protect the managerial and accounting autonomy of EDA.

“The resumption of EDA’s activity under our leadership,” said the Vitrociset Group Chairman and CEO, Gen. Mario Arpino, “provides a guarantee for extremely delicate sectors of the Public Administration, for the promotion and growth of the corporate know-how and for the families of employees, who have already been hardly hit by the company’s bankruptcy”.

The Vitrociset Group is one of the major Italian groups by size and know-how, and operates in IT, electronics and integrated logistics. Its specific areas of activity span from telecommunications to transport, from satellite technologies to defence systems, and from information mobility to integrated logistics.

Vitrociset is an important national and European resource and, with a staff of 800 employees, is a unique player in terms of project capacity and state-of-the-art systems management and support.
